GACA's December 2023 report assessed Saudi airports using 11 key criteria

Riyadh, January 16, 2024, In its December 2023 monthly report on the performance of domestic and international airports in Saudi Arabia, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) utilized 11 fundamental performance measurement criteria to evaluate airport efficiency and service quality.

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Abha International Airport, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Regional Airport in Qassim, and Gurayat Domestic Airport emerged as the top-performing airports in the comprehensive assessment.

To ensure fairness in the evaluation process, GACA studied five distinct categories. Among international airports with an annual passenger count exceeding 15 million, King Abdulaziz International Airport secured the top position with an impressive 91% compliance rate. Following closely was King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, achieving an 82% compliance rate.

In the category of international airports catering to 5 to 15 million passengers annually, King Fahd International Airport claimed the lead with a notable 91% compliance rate. Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah secured the second spot, also boasting a commendable 91% compliance rate.

For international airports handling two to five million passengers annually, Abha International Airport demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving a perfect 100% compliance rate. King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan followed closely, with an impressive 91% compliance rate.

In the category of international airports managing less than two million passengers, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Regional Airport achieved an outstanding 100% compliance rate. This accomplishment surpassed peers, reflecting superior efficiency in terms of the total average waiting time for departing and arriving flights.

Shifting focus to domestic airports, Gurayat Domestic Airport emerged as the top performer with a flawless 100% compliance rate. The airport outperformed its counterparts, excelling in terms of the total average waiting time for both departing and arriving flights. The GACA's monthly report serves as a valuable tool in assessing and recognizing the operational excellence of airports across Saudi Arabia.
