Riyadh, August 28, 2023, The General Authority of Military Industry (GAMI), in conjunction with the Ministry of Defense, and the Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), a fully owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), are proud to announce their recent efforts to strengthen the Saudi defense industries through the opening of a new production line for software-defined multi-band radio systems (SDRs). These market-leading radio systems will be produced locally in Riyadh on this production line, which is being set up at SAMI-AEC, a national leader for decades in the field of electronic manufacturing capabilities, in partnership with L3Harris Technologies and the SAMIL3Harris Joint Venture. Eng. Walid A. Abukhaled, CEO of SAMI, spoke eloquently about this alliance, highlighting not only how it strengthened ties with L3 Harris, a leader in the global defense sector, but also how it demonstrated the company's dedication to both organizations to considerably increase local capacity in this important focal area. "This initiative is crucial in our pursuit of the Saudi 2030 Vision's order to localize 50% of the Kingdom's defense spending, he continued, adding that it will also help to strengthen the local content and our ongoing collaboration with the Royal Saudi Land Forces. SAMI is committed to delivering state-of-the-art technologies while expanding and strengthening local skills and capabilities. The CEO of SAMI-AEC, Eng. Ziad Al-Musallam, reaffirmed the firm's unshakable commitment to enhancing the Saudi defense manufacturing sector through strategic alliances and plans to expand these partnerships. This strategy perfectly complements our goal of indigenously developing technologies for the defense industry.
