Riyadh, October 31, 2024 – The President of Saudi Arabia’s General Court of Audit (GCA), Dr. Hussam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Anqari, hosted a high-level consultative meeting at the GCA headquarters in Riyadh on Wednesday, gathering prominent figures in the field of international audit and financial accountability. Dr. Al-Anqari, who also serves as the Chairman of the Steering Committee for INTOSAI Cooperation with the Donor Community, met with Eng. Mohammed Alsaati, the Special Advisor to the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). The meeting also included the participation of U.S. Comptroller General Gene Dodaro, who heads the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and serves as Vice Chairman of the INTOSAI Steering Committee.

The discussions centered on reinforcing strategic partnerships between INTOSAI, the international organization dedicated to supporting supreme audit institutions (SAIs) globally, and the IsDB, a key donor partner and a member of the donor group led by the World Bank. The primary focus of the dialogue was to enhance collaborative efforts that support initiatives aimed at strengthening the auditing capacities of SAIs, particularly in developing countries, where improved public financial management is increasingly critical.

Dr. Al-Anqari highlighted the pivotal role that INTOSAI's collaboration with donor entities plays in empowering SAIs to fulfill their mandates more effectively. He pointed to the Steering Committee’s successes in enabling these institutions to adopt international best practices and advance their knowledge through robust knowledge-sharing mechanisms. This strategic partnership, he explained, is aligned with INTOSAI’s mission to promote transparency and accountability in public sector financial management globally.

The meeting underscored the ongoing need to equip SAIs with the tools and knowledge required to hold governments accountable and manage public funds with increased efficiency. Dr. Al-Anqari emphasized that enhancing SAI performance not only builds trust in public financial systems but also fosters a culture of accountability that benefits global governance as a whole.
