GCC and EU officials meet in Brussels to enhance cooperation

Riyadh, March 19, 2024, On Monday, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi and European Union (EU) External Action Service Deputy Secretary General Enrique Mora convened in Brussels to discuss avenues for bolstering cooperation between their respective entities. The meeting underscored the significance of collaborative efforts between the GCC and the EU in tackling contemporary challenges.

During the discussions, both sides delved into various topics of mutual interest concerning GCC-European bilateral relations within the framework of their strategic partnership. Among the key topics was the visa waiver process for GCC citizens traveling to the Schengen area, highlighting the importance of facilitating travel and enhancing people-to-people exchanges.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed several regional and international matters of common concern, with a particular emphasis on the urgent situation in the Gaza Strip. The discussions encompassed the grave events unfolding in Gaza and their repercussions on regional security and stability, underscoring the need for concerted efforts to address these challenges effectively.

The dialogue between GCC Secretary General Albudaiwi and EU Deputy Secretary General Mora reflects the commitment of both organizations to fostering closer cooperation, promoting mutual understanding, and working collaboratively to address pressing issues impacting their regions and beyond.
