New York, September 19, 2023, According to Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the ministerial meeting between the GCC countries and the United Kingdom reviewed the progress toward partnership between the two sides, including the negotiations of free trade agreements. On the eve of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, GCC foreign ministers met with British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs, James Cleverly, to discuss ways to strengthen their strategic partnership in all areas, including politics, defense, security, commerce, and culture. He added that several regional and international files and issues were discussed and that the United Kingdom was informed of the statement issued by the Ministerial Council of the GCC Foreign Ministers at their coordination meeting on Monday regarding the recent developments in the Republic of Iraq, including the ruling of the Federal Supreme Court and its negative effects.
To preserve peace, security, stability, prosperity, and beneficial collaboration in sectors that serve their mutual interests, Al-Budaiwi emphasized that the GCC countries and the UK strive to work together.
