GCC Secretary-General announces 2nd Strategic Dialogue with Central Asia in Tashkent

Riyadh, April 13, 2024, The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi, has announced the upcoming second ministerial meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between GCC countries and Central Asian states, scheduled to take place on April 15, 2024, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The meeting will be chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrhman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, who currently holds the position of President of the Ministerial Council. Joining him will be Bakhtiyor Saidov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The gathering will also see the participation of foreign affairs ministers from both GCC and Central Asian countries.

Albudaiwi emphasized that this meeting signifies the mutual desire of both sides to strengthen their relations, enhance strategic dialogue, and advance common interests. These efforts align with their shared values, interests, and historical ties, as outlined in the Joint Action Plan for the period 2023-2027, signed in September 2022.

The discussions during the meeting are expected to revolve around ways to further enhance relations between the GCC countries and Central Asian states, as well as address regional and international developments of mutual concern. This diplomatic engagement reflects a commitment to fostering cooperation and collaboration for the collective benefit of all participating nations.
