Riyadh, March 03, 2024, The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi, has revealed that the 159th session of the Ministerial Council of the GCC has yielded pivotal decisions aimed at bolstering joint Gulf initiatives. Albudaiwi further noted that the session meticulously reviewed various reports pertaining to the implementation of resolutions adopted during the 44th GCC Supreme Council Summit held in Doha.
This landmark session, which convened on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh, was presided over by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
Albudaiwi emphasized that the sidelines of the session saw individual meetings with representatives from the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Kingdom of Morocco. These bilateral engagements, he asserted, play a significant role in the GCC's ongoing endeavors to fortify relations and partnerships with both regional and international entities.
Additionally, the Secretary-General highlighted that the session delved into a multitude of memoranda and reports presented by ministerial, technical, and general secretariat committees. Discourse encompassed dialogues and strategic engagements between GCC nations and their international counterparts, with a keen focus on addressing the latest regional and international developments.
Of noteworthy mention is the briefing provided by the General Coordinator of Negotiations, who also heads the Negotiating Team of the GCC. This comprehensive overview entailed a review of executed agreements and ongoing negotiation efforts, underscoring preparations for forthcoming signings with several countries in the near future.
The Ministerial Council meeting boasted the attendance of Foreign Ministers from GCC member states, underscoring the collaborative spirit that characterized the discussions and decisions emanating from this significant gathering.
