GCC Secretary-General emphasizes GCC-Turkey cooperation, underscores significance of free-trade agreement

Riyadh, February 2, 2024, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi emphasized the imperative of strengthening collaboration between GCC countries and the Republic of Türkiye, underscoring the significance of progressing towards the signing of a free-trade agreement (FTA). This affirmation took place during a meeting held on Thursday with Turkish Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Fatih Ulusoy at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.

The discussions encompassed various topics, including a comprehensive review of the shared historical relations between the GCC and the Republic of Türkiye, with a focus on exploring avenues for their development across all domains to advance common interests. Additionally, both parties delved into cooperative measures aimed at supporting joint efforts between the GCC and Turkey in addressing issues related to drug control, money laundering, and counterterrorism. The meeting also provided an opportunity for an exchange of perspectives on a range of regional and international subjects of mutual interest.
