GCC Secretary General underscores importance of GCC-Pakistan preliminary FTA

Riyadh, September 29, 2023, Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has highlighted the significance of the preliminary free trade agreement (FTA) signed between the GCC and Pakistan. This accord reflects the mutual desire to bolster trade ties and economic collaboration with nations and international groups.


The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony held at the General Secretariat's headquarters in Riyadh, where both Secretary General Albudaiwi and Pakistani Commerce Minister Dr. Gohar Ejaz inked the deal. Albudaiwi underscored the historical importance of this economic agreement, characterizing it as a pivotal milestone in cooperation that will foster growth and prosperity, aligning with the shared interests of both parties. He emphasized the vital role of close collaboration between nations in strengthening economic relations.


Furthermore, Albudaiwi noted that GCC countries are actively engaged in free-trade negotiations with other nations, aiming to create opportunities for trade and economic cooperation that benefit the member states on both regional and global fronts. In concluding, he extended his gratitude to the GCC negotiating teams and the General Secretariat for their dedication and efforts during the negotiation process.
