GCC secretary-general visits Aden General Hospital to oversee humanitarian efforts

Aden, September 04, 2023, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), paid a visit to Aden General Hospital on Saturday to oversee the humanitarian and relief efforts as well as the development initiatives carried out by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) in Yemen and on display at the hospital. The KSrelief team gave a presentation on the types of 828 different relief and development initiatives that were carried out in Yemen. These initiatives span a wide range of industries, including those related to security and protection, education, water and environmental sanitation, agriculture and food security, and health. The presentation also focused on the $4 billion+ cost of supporting and coordinating humanitarian operations. The Saudi Arabian government has reportedly supported Yemen in a number of ways for many years, including by establishing Al-Salam Hospital in Saada Governorate in 1982 and the Saudi Hospital in Hajjah Governorate in 1992. Both facilities were outfitted with the most up-to-date medical technology and benefited from an annual operating budget, making them popular with patients from all of Yemen's governorates. Additionally, KSrelief has consistently funded several medical facilities in Yemen.

Following the visit, Albudaiwi released a press statement applauding the significant humanitarian role performed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which provides all types of help to the Yemeni people by carrying out crucial programs and projects aimed at easing their Suffering.
