GEA Holds 536 Events with 8.3 Million Attendees in Third Quarter

Riyadh, October 29, 2024 – The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has reported impressive achievements in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, organizing a remarkable 536 events across various regions in Saudi Arabia that attracted a staggering 8.3 million visitors. This milestone highlights the GEA's ongoing commitment to enriching the entertainment landscape in the Kingdom and aligns with the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.


In its detailed Q3 report, the GEA emphasized a significant rise in licensing activity, with requests surging to 9,000—a notable 20% increase compared to the previous quarter, which recorded 7,498 license applications. This uptick reflects the growing interest and investment in the entertainment sector. During this quarter, the GEA issued a total of 1,827 licenses, marking a 5.7% increase from the same period last year. These licenses included 481 for entertainment events, 412 for recreational shows, 567 for live performances in dining establishments, and 82 specifically for crowd management, showcasing the diverse range of entertainment options being offered.


Additionally, the GEA reported that it has registered 5,225 companies actively operating within the entertainment sector, while the number of licensed entertainment cities in the Kingdom has risen to 106. This growth indicates a thriving industry that is attracting both local and international stakeholders.


During the July-September period, the GEA conducted an impressive 21,749 inspection visits across various cities, reflecting a 3.9% increase from the previous quarter. Riyadh led the way with 7,108 visits, followed closely by Makkah, which recorded 6,222 visits. These inspections play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards within the entertainment sector.


Furthermore, the GEA has categorized over 250 investors in the entertainment industry and identified 455 unique entertainment activities. This strategic initiative aims to enhance the quality of entertainment offerings and ensure that professional recreational experiences are delivered to the public.


The GEA's continuous advancements in organizational capabilities and entertainment performance underscore the ongoing enhancement efforts within the sector, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering a vibrant entertainment ecosystem as part of Saudi Vision 2030.
