General Authority for Survey engages in HLG-IGIF meeting in Aguascalientes, Mexico

Riyadh, January 25, 2024, The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information actively participated in the third meeting of the High-Level Group of the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (HLG-IGIF), which took place in Aguascalientes, Mexico, from January 22 to 26, 2024. Leading the delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was Dr. Mohammed Al Sayel, who serves as the President of the authority and holds the position of Chairman of the Arab committee of United Nations Experts on Geospatial Information Management.

The primary focus of the meeting was on extensive discussions about the strategic plan, priority goals, and the progress achieved in the team's work plan. During an open discussion panel, Dr. Al Sayel presented a comprehensive overview of the activities and achievements of the IGIF team within the Arab committee. Additionally, he provided insights into the workshops associated with the IGIF and highlighted key recommendations arising from the committee's tenth meeting.

One of the key emphases during the panel discussions was on recognizing the challenges and opportunities facing the Arab committee. There was a particular emphasis on enhancing communication among member states and effectively implementing the framework's strategic paths in alignment with the national interests of each participating country.

Notably, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information, holds the prestigious position of chairing the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts on Geospatial Information Management and serves as the committee's secretariat. Furthermore, the Kingdom maintains membership in the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management, demonstrating its commitment to actively contributing to global geospatial information initiatives.
