Riyadh, September 13, 2024 — A recent economic report from the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in partnership with Accenture, reveals that the adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI) could significantly boost Saudi Arabia's gross domestic product (GDP).
The report, presented this week at the third Global AI Summit and titled "Opportunities of Generative AI in Saudi Arabia," explores how generative AI can enhance productivity, create new employment opportunities, and improve the overall competitiveness of the Kingdom's economy. It also underscores the technology’s role in supporting the Kingdom’s goals for economic diversification and fostering innovation.
One key finding is that generative AI has the potential to reduce routine working hours by 37% across various professions, allowing workers to focus on more critical tasks. This potential was assessed through an analysis of professional data from national statistical offices and databases across 19 countries, which was then compared with the current situation in Saudi Arabia. The report also employed academic research and statistical models to project the impact of generative AI on efficiency and productivity in different sectors.
The report emphasizes that Saudi Arabia is making significant strides in leveraging generative AI to accelerate innovation and build a more sustainable future.
