The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) has launched a competition to recognize the best geospatial applications, with awards for government, private sector, and individual entries.
Applications must be innovative, economically and socially impactful, and align with Sustainable Development Goals and the Kingdom's Vision 2030, using data from the National Geospatial Platform.

Riyadh, August 25, 2024 — The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) has announced the launch of a new competition aimed at advancing the Kingdom's geospatial infrastructure. The competition is designed to stimulate innovation across the government and private sectors as well as among individual developers by encouraging the creation of effective and modern applications based on geospatial data. GEOSA will recognize three exceptional geospatial applications with awards in three distinct categories: government sector, private sector, and individual contributors.
The competition will evaluate applications on their originality, economic and social impact, and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, submissions must align with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and utilize data from the National Geospatial Platform. Evaluation criteria include scalability, sustainability, user-friendliness, system integration, and community engagement. Applications will also be judged on creativity, cross-platform compatibility, accessibility for people with disabilities, profitability, and marketing potential.
The winners will be honored with the GEOSA Shield at the National Geospatial Platform Forum 2024, and their notable features will be highlighted through social media platforms dedicated to geospatial technology.
