Governor Faisal crowns winners of Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Cups

Riyadh, Jan 28, 2024, In a ceremony held on Saturday evening as part of the 96th edition of the Riyadh Racing Season, the winners of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cups and the Saudi Apprentice Jockeys were crowned by the Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz. The event, held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, took place at the King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Janadriyah.

Upon his arrival, Prince Faisal was welcomed by Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz (advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques), and Prince Bandar bin Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz (Chairman of the Saudi Equestrian Authority and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia).

The ceremony commenced with the playing of the Royal anthem as the 7th round of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup for locally bred horses in the first category started, covering a distance of meters with a prize of SAR 1.5 million. The horse 'Ibn Tulun,' owned by Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Makhdoob, secured the first place.

Subsequently, the eighth round for the internationally classified Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup began, covering a distance of 1,800 meters. Following the race, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz presented the trophy to the horse owner, the sons of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz received the trophy on behalf of the owner, with a prize of SAR 1.5 million.
