Jeddah, September 25, 2023, The winners of the Global Prize for Innovation in Desalination (GPID) will be revealed during the upcoming Innovation Driven Desalination Conference, scheduled from September 30 to October 3, 2023, in Jeddah. This event, under the patronage of Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley, is expected to draw international water sector specialists and experts.
The GPID, boasting a $10 million prize, has attracted over 100 participants, including research institutions, universities, entrepreneurs, and representatives from local, regional, and global desalination companies. The competition's primary objective is to stimulate innovative solutions within the desalination industry and promote their practical applications, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Contending innovative projects aim to address the desalination industry's environmental concerns, reduce energy consumption, lower capital and operational expenses, leverage emerging technologies, transform business models, and enhance analytical studies related to innovation. The prize will recognize innovations with the most significant potential impact on the future of the desalination sector.
