Makkah, March 1, 2024, The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has undertaken a significant expansion of the fifth-generation (5G) network within the Grand Mosque, extending its coverage to encompass the revered Zamzam well and the basement of the King Fahd expansion. This expansion initiative, supported by key stakeholders including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, underscores a concerted effort to prepare for the upcoming month of Ramadan and enhance the coordination among various authorities dedicated to serving pilgrims during this sacred period.
The primary objective behind this strategic move is to optimize the efficiency of Zamzam water production by enabling real-time monitoring of water levels within the well. This data will be seamlessly transmitted to the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Project for Zamzam Water Distribution, facilitating better management and distribution of this sacred resource. Additionally, the enhanced 5G network infrastructure will play a pivotal role in enhancing the dissemination of religious teachings, enabling the live broadcasting of religious lessons via the Manarat Al-Haramain digital platform. This ensures that the spiritual content reaches a global audience, fostering greater accessibility and engagement.
Looking ahead, the General Authority is committed to further expanding the network coverage to include the third Saudi expansion by the onset of Ramadan. This proactive approach underscores the authority's dedication to ensuring an unparalleled experience for pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors, reaffirming its commitment to providing comprehensive support and services during this auspicious period.
