LONDON April 4, 2025: Erling Haaland assured “I’ll be back” after learning he will be out for seven weeks due to an ankle injury.

Haaland limped off in the second half of Manchester City's 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday. The Norway striker had missed a penalty and scored his 30th goal of the season before being injured in a tackle with Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook.

City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed on Tuesday that Haaland will miss most of the remaining season, with doctors estimating a recovery time of five to seven weeks. Guardiola expressed hope that Haaland would be fit for the end of the season and the Club World Cup.

Haaland shared his response on Instagram Wednesday, saying: “I’ll be back,” referencing the famous line from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character in the Terminator films, along with a flexed biceps emoji. The post included a photo of the 24-year-old with his left foot in a protective boot, holding crutches.

Haaland’s absence is a significant blow to City’s Champions League qualification hopes. He will miss Sunday’s Manchester derby, the FA Cup semifinal against Nottingham Forest on April 26 or 27, and potentially the FA Cup final on May 17, just a day short of seven weeks from his injury. City’s final Premier League match is on May 25, followed by their first Club World Cup match against Wydad Casablanca on June 18.
