JEDDAH, March 28, 2025: The Haramain High-Speed Railway in Saudi Arabia has recorded its highest daily passenger count since its launch in 2018.
The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) reported transporting approximately 48,000 passengers in a single day on the 15th of Ramadan.
Since the start of Ramadan in March, daily ridership has averaged over 39,000 passengers, highlighting the strong demand for Haramain services as the fastest travel option to Makkah.
The railway facilitates year-round travel for worshippers, Umrah, and Hajj pilgrims, linking Makkah and Madinah while passing through Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, and King Abdullah Economic City.
To accommodate the increased demand, SAR has gradually expanded its services, reaching 130 daily trips in the final 10 days of Ramadan to serve Umrah pilgrims, worshippers, and visitors to the holy sites.
Train schedules have been adjusted to match peak travel times, and additional lounges have been set up at Madinah station to improve the passenger experience.
Operating along a 453-km electric railway, the Haramain High-Speed Railway ranks among the world’s 10 fastest trains, reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
