Riyadh, September 04, 2023, Today, the Heritage Commission revealed that 50,000 urban heritage sites across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been nominated for registration. Following the guidelines for protecting antiquities and urban heritage, this procedure is being carried out in close consultation with numerous stakeholders. The Commission has described how it will use current technology to catalog, classify, and register these nominated assets in the Architectural Heritage Register. According to the Antiquities and Architectural Heritage rules, heritage sites that have been registered based on specified criteria relating to national, urban, or cultural value are listed in the Architectural Heritage Register as an official record. In order to accurately manage, save, and preserve information about these locations and structures, this registration process uses a geographic information system. Diese Information is essential for figuring out the preventive and protective measures required to maintain and secure these assets for future generations. The urban heritage of the Kingdom places a high value on these heritage sites. In the Kingdom, there are five steps in the registration process for items related to urban heritage. It starts with determining the source of the urban heritage, then nominates the asset, formally registers it in the urban heritage register, classifies it, and, finally, codes the source of the urban heritage.
