London, December 17, 2023, The high-level Joint Steering Committee convened its meeting in London, with Eng. Talal Al-Otaibi, Assistant Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia, and Avril Jolliffe, Director-General of Industry, Trade, and Economic Security at the UK Ministry of Defence, serving as chairpersons.
During the session, the officials undertook a comprehensive review of the historical and strategic defense relations between Saudi Arabia and the UK. Deliberations encompassed various facets of strategic cooperation, including defense research and development, technology transfer, and localization, all aligned with the objectives outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030.
Eng. Talal Al-Otaibi engaged in discussions with James Cartlidge, Minister of State for Defence Procurement and Member of Parliament for South Suffolk, at the UK Ministry of Defence. The meeting aimed to explore opportunities for the enhancement and development of cooperation in the realms of defense and military affairs.
Additionally, Al-Otaibi held discussions with Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff Lieutenant General Rob Magowan, focusing on collaborative efforts in defense research and development, technology transfer, and localization, all in line with the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030.
