Riyadh, April 26, 2024, The "Hima" Protected Areas Forum, organized by the National Center for Wildlife (NCW), recently concluded its activities in Riyadh from April 21-24. The forum, inaugurated by Eng. Abdulrahman AlFadli, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture and Chairman of the NCW Board, aimed to highlight Saudi Arabia's significant role in global environmental initiatives.
Dr. Mohammed Qurban, CEO of NCW, emphasized the forum's importance as a platform for discussing key issues in wildlife conservation. The NCW, as the national entity for the wildlife sector, is responsible for hosting such international conferences, monitoring the sector, and developing regulations and policies for protected areas within the Kingdom's system.
The "Hima" Protected Areas Forum featured eight main sessions, workshops, side meetings, and field visits to natural reserves. It also facilitated the signing of memoranda and agreements, along with issuing a list of recommendations. Additionally, an accompanying exhibition showcased environmental centers, Royal reserves, major projects, associations, international environmental organizations, and reserves, enhancing collaboration and knowledge sharing in the field of wildlife conservation.
