Diriyah, September 15, 2023, This week, a historic UNESCO VIP supper was attended by VIP guests, including members of the royal family, ministers, and delegation heads, at Bujairi Terrace's amphitheater. Representatives from the public and commercial sectors gathered at Diriyah for the 45th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, a series of events from the 10th to the 25th of September, to debate the protection of heritage around the world. At the UNESCO Partners Forum on September 10, it was announced that Diriyah, the City of Earth, would join the UN Global Compact, the biggest business sustainability and social responsibility project in the world. Being a sustainable pedestrian city that honors culture and legacy, Diriyah will make a special contribution. Business leaders gathered at the UNESCO Partners Forum to pave the way for further corporate sector participation in world heritage preservation.
Following the productive forum, VIP tours were given to the honored guests. Visitors were welcomed by Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO of Diriyah Company, and given a tour of At-Turaif, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that serves as the development's historic core.
Additionally, Robert "Bobby" Sager hosted signing events to promote the publication of his upcoming book, "Diriyah Face to Face," which will be available in October. The book investigates Diriyah's streets, palaces, mosques, and landscapes, discovering "faces" in the crumbled mud brick patterns of the city's ancient Najdi architecture. Diriyah is a 265-year-old city.
Following the meal, Diriyah Company Group CEO Jerry Inzerillo made the following statement: "The Diriyah masterplan is creating one of the biggest cultural gathering places in the world. These kinds of incidents show how far we've come in that direction already. At-Turaif, one of our stunning UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is a symbol that brings millions of visitors to Saudi Arabia. We are always excited to host dignitaries and guests in our beautiful city and show them everything it has to offer.
