World Humanitarian Day: The OIC celebrated World Humanitarian Day on August 19, honoring humanitarian workers for their bravery, sacrifices, and injuries sustained while performing their duties.

Commitment to Joint Initiatives: The Secretariat reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing Islamic humanitarian initiatives, expressing gratitude to member states, donors, and partners for their crucial contributions in mitigating the impacts of crises.


On August 21, 2024, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) commemorated World Humanitarian Day with a heartfelt tribute to humanitarian workers who display immense bravery and dedication in the face of adversity. Celebrated annually on August 19, this significant day recognizes the courage, sacrifices, and often injuries suffered by those committed to humanitarian efforts and life-saving operations in challenging environments.


During the observance, the OIC General Secretariat emphasized the pressing humanitarian challenges confronting the Islamic world. The Secretariat called for intensified and coordinated efforts to tackle the myriad impacts and complexities of these crises. This call to action underscores the need for a united approach to address the humanitarian needs across member states.


The General Secretariat reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing and coordinating joint Islamic humanitarian initiatives. These initiatives, grounded in Islamic principles and aligned with the OIC's charter and resolutions, focus on crisis response, developing effective mechanisms, and fostering collaboration with member states, as well as international and regional entities. The aim is to effectively manage and alleviate the effects of crises on affected populations.


Furthermore, the General Secretariat expressed sincere gratitude to member states, donors, and partners for their vital and ongoing support. Their contributions are crucial in mitigating the adverse impacts of crises and providing relief to affected communities and refugees hosted within member states.
