Riyadh, February 25, 2025 – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia underscored the urgency of addressing the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories during ongoing regional developments. This call to action was voiced by Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, President of the Saudi Human Rights Commission (HRC) and head of the Kingdom’s delegation, during her speech at the high-level segment of the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva.

In her address, Dr. Al-Tuwaijri reiterated Saudi Arabia's steadfast commitment to advocating for the protection of human rights globally, particularly in conflict zones like Palestine. She emphasized the need for the international community to direct increased attention to the deteriorating human rights conditions in the region, especially as the situation continues to unfold with devastating consequences for civilians.

The Saudi representative also affirmed the Kingdom’s ongoing dedication to strengthening its collaboration with the UN human rights mechanisms, ensuring that the protection of human rights remains a central global priority. Furthermore, Dr. Al-Tuwaijri highlighted Saudi Arabia's belief in respecting the diverse values of different societies, advocating against the imposition of selective, unilateral values on others. She urged for a more inclusive approach to human rights, one that recognizes and celebrates cultural and civilizational diversity rather than imposing a singular narrative.

By promoting mutual respect for different cultural contexts, Dr. Al-Tuwaijri called for leveraging these differences as an opportunity to enhance and protect the human rights of all peoples, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and cooperation in achieving a more just and equitable world. Through this stance, Saudi Arabia continues to champion the global protection of human rights while fostering a more inclusive, respectful, and diverse international framework.
