Riyadh, September 28, 2024, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, announced the launch of Riyadh Foundation and the formation of its board of directors. Established by a Royal Decree, the foundation will operate as an independent non-profit foundation under the umbrella of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City.
Riyadh Foundation will be Chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission of Riyadh City. The CEO of the Royal Commission of Riyadh City Eng. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Sultan is appointed as Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the foundation.
The Board members were selected to represent the sectors and public entities that will benefit from the foundation’s work which includes: Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Mayor of Riyadh Region Prince Dr. Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Alayyaf, Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi, Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb, Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel, Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan and the Advisor to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers Fahad bin Abdulmohsen Al Rasheed.
The foundation aims to serve the aspiration of Riyadh City covering four key dimensions: health and happiness, inclusiveness and empowerment, a connected society, and a sustainable city. It will achieve its objectives through a strong Think Tank that will focus on research and development, designing and delivering impactful social programs, supporting entrepreneurial initiatives through the incubation and acceleration of community projects, management of social assets, and unlocking Riyadh’s social capital through volunteering and social enterprise.
The foundation serves as a pioneering step towards promoting social development and innovation in the non-profit sector in alignment with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Through social cohesion, connectivity, and education, boosting cultural awareness and understanding, heritage and arts to enhance the sense of belonging and build on communication amongst residents and visitors alike; at the same time promoting environmental through sustainable practices across the city.
