On October 22, 2024, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, hosted King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. The visit served as a platform for reinforcing the strong ties between the two brotherly nations and addressing pressing regional issues.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman warmly welcomed King Abdullah II to Saudi Arabia, extending the Kingdom’s customary hospitality to the Jordanian monarch and his delegation. In turn, King Abdullah expressed his gratitude for the gracious reception and hospitality. During their meeting, the Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to King Abdullah, who reciprocated by sending his greetings to King Salman.
The discussions between the two leaders focused on further strengthening the brotherly relations between Saudi Arabia and Jordan. They explored avenues to enhance cooperation across a variety of fields, including political, economic, and security matters. In addition, they held in-depth discussions on key issues affecting the Arab and Islamic worlds, particularly developments in the Middle East. The ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as broader regional security and stability, were high on the agenda. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving ceasefires in these conflict zones and reducing tensions across the region.
A significant part of the discussions revolved around the humanitarian crises in Palestine and Lebanon. Both the Crown Prince and King Abdullah reaffirmed their unwavering support for their Palestinian and Lebanese brothers. They also emphasized the importance of ensuring that humanitarian aid flows without interruption to alleviate the suffering of people affected by the conflicts.
The meeting was attended by a high-level delegation from both sides. Saudi officials present included Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy; Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd, Minister of State and Cabinet Member; Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud, Minister of Interior; and Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, among other key ministers and advisors. From the Jordanian side, Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi, and other senior officials were in attendance.
