
March 25, 2025, HYDERABAD, India: Ishan Kishan scored 106* off 47 balls as Sunrisers Hyderabad triumphed over Rajasthan Royals by 44 runs in their season opener of the 2025 Indian Premier League on Sunday.
Kishan, in his debut match for his new franchise, hit 11 fours and six sixes, marking his first IPL century, and helped Hyderabad reach a total of 286-6, their second-highest total in IPL history. Travis Head contributed 67 off 31 balls.
Rajasthan fought hard, posting 242-6 in response, with Dhruv Jurel scoring 70 off 35 balls and Sanju Samson adding 66 off 37.
In the evening match, Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets with five balls remaining. Noor Ahmad starred with 4-18 in four overs, while Rachin Ravindra scored an unbeaten 65 off 45 balls to guide Chennai to 158-6 in 19.1 overs.
Rajasthan's English pacer Jofra Archer struggled, recording 0-76 in four overs, the most expensive spell in IPL history. Mumbai, led by Suryakumar Yadav, faced issues with spin, finishing with 155-9, while Chennai comfortably chased down the target.
