Hyundai Motor Middle East and Africa Headquarters revealed its plans for sustainability and electric mobility at a media event held at the SEE Institute in the Sustainable City in Dubai. The event, characterized by being held in a "Net Zero" venue, introduced the company's vision for the future of electric mobility through the IONIQ sub-brand, representing Hyundai's electric car range.
The battery electric vehicles IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 models were showcased for the first time in the Middle East during the event. Both models are recognized as among the most award-winning electric cars globally.
The IONIQ 5 features a progressive design inspired by Hyundai's '45' EV concept and incorporates a spacious and customizable interior. It offers a range of power electric configurations, including an all-wheel-drive option with a 72.6-kWh battery, producing a combined power output of 225 kW and 605 Nm of torque. The IONIQ 5 also comes with advanced features such as Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR HUD), Remote Charging, and a premium Bose sound system.
On the other hand, the IONIQ 6 Electrified Streamliner is a new model in Hyundai's IONIQ all-electric lineup. It boasts an estimated all-electric range of over 610 km, ultra-fast 400-V/800-V multi-charging capability, and features such as Dual Color Ambient Lighting, Speed Sync Lighting, and an EV Performance Tune-up system. The IONIQ 6 is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, including Highway Driving Assist 2, Smart Cruise Control, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist.
Hyundai is also introducing Over-the-Air (OTA) Software Update capability with the IONIQ 6, allowing drivers to upgrade the vehicle's controllers for electric devices, autonomous driving, battery, and more remotely.
This initiative reflects Hyundai's commitment to sustainability and aligns with the growing interest in electric mobility in the Middle East and Africa region. The company aims to contribute to the transition towards emissions-free mobility, consistent with the ambitious plans of countries in the region.
