On September 15, 2024, Dr. Yasser bin Rashid Al-Dosari, the Imam and Khatib of the Grand Mosque of Makkah, met with preachers and graduates of Saudi universities in South Africa during his visit to Pretoria. This visit, organized and overseen by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, aims to strengthen relationships with the Muslim community in South Africa. Dr. Al-Dosari highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Islamic affairs and Muslims globally, including those in South Africa, through various initiatives that promote moderate Islam and underscore the faith's tolerance. He praised the Ministry of Islamic Affairs for its dedication to realizing the Kingdom’s goals of serving Islam worldwide. In response, the attendees expressed their appreciation for the Saudi government’s support of Islamic education and scholarship programs, which have allowed numerous preachers and scholars to study in Saudi Arabia and return to their countries, including South Africa, to advocate for the principles of moderate Islam.
