"Madinah, on June 4, 2024, the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque made an announcement today about a new project that would involve the participation of the esteemed Imams of the Two Holy Mosques in the Fatwa Chair."This endeavor will disseminate the Imams' moderate Islamic message beyond the mihrab and pulpit, enhancing the pilgrims' experiences. We will also enhance programs that offer answers to queries.Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, initiated the initiative based on evidence from the Holy Quran and Sunnah. He engaged the services of Imams of the Prophet's Mosque in receiving and answering questions related to Hajj and visiting the Prophet's Mosque.
This took place at the same time pilgrims started arriving for the Hajj season, which is the fifth pillar of Islam, beginning in 1445, the Islamic calendar year. He has been stressing that the guidelines of the wise leadership encourage hard work, morale-boosting, and dedication towards the elevation and propagation of the holy message of the Two Holy Mosques all over the world. Later, he added that the mission of the organization is to help pilgrims go through their rituals and utilize available and effective resources of all kinds. Furthermore, the president, Sheikh Dr. Al-Sudais, stated that to achieve these great goals, there is a need to develop the religious message conveyed by the Imams of the Two Holy Mosques and broaden their role beyond the mihrab and the pulpit. Their role shall include scholarly chairs, scientific lessons, the issuance of fatwas, and answering religious questions. Precisely, he added, this clarifies Hajj and Umrah customs, and visit etiquette, which in turn boosts the experiences of pilgrims and visitors in the Prophet's Mosque.
