JUNE 7, 2024, AlUla. Originating from its extraordinary landscape, the village of Qaa Alhaj, found in the northeastern part of the Al-Ula Province, became a prominent destination and path to be followed by pilgrims traveling the Levant Hajj route. The holy cities of Makkah and Madinah are the links between the Levant and this route. This unique area topography is typified by basins surrounded by mountains, where rainfall creates pools along the road that last for months, and that was the inspiration for the name of the settlement.

This village, throughout history, has acted as a resting place for Hajj caravans and merchants. Qaa Alhaj was the location where Hajj caravans finally rested after persevering through numerous ordeals, among them dryness and extreme thirst. The village and its resources provided them with much-needed relief and a reliable source of water. Damascus is the starting point for the Levant Hajj route, which travels through Busra Al-Sham of Daraa and other significant locations, such as Ma'an and Al-Madawara, while traveling through the region.

It then makes its way into the Kingdom, traveling through Halat Ammar, That Al-Hajj in Tabuk, Al-Aqra'a, Al-Akhdhar, Al-Muazam, Al-Hijr, Al-Ula, Qaa Alhaj, and Qarh before arriving at Madinah. Saudi Arabia has made efforts throughout history to receive and give all types of services to Hajj pilgrims via land crossings, air ports, and sea ports. Since the beginning of time, Saudi Arabia has continued to make these efforts as the number of pilgrims has increased.
