Reyhanli, January 7, 2025 – In a remarkable display of efficiency and compassion, a volunteer medical team from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) successfully performed 66 cochlear implant surgeries within just 20 hours in Reyhanli, Türkiye. This achievement is part of the Saudi Sama'a Volunteer Program for Cochlear Implantation and Hearing Rehabilitation, which is designed to assist Syrian children who suffer from hearing impairments as a result of conflict and displacement.
The program, which took place from December 26, 2024, to January 2, 2025, brought together 43 dedicated volunteers from various medical specialties, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and technicians. Their collaborative efforts resulted in a total of 142 cochlear implant surgeries conducted for Syrian children, with all surgeries being completed successfully. The implants will have a profound impact on the lives of these children, giving them the ability to hear and engage with the world around them.
This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian efforts aimed at providing essential medical support to the Syrian people, who continue to endure the challenges of displacement, conflict, and lack of access to adequate healthcare. Through the KSRelief program, Saudi Arabia has extended a helping hand to those in need, offering specialized medical treatments and services that are often unavailable to affected populations.
The Saudi Sama'a Volunteer Program is an essential component of KSRelief's ongoing volunteer medical projects, which target various aspects of healthcare, including surgery, rehabilitation, and mental health support. By offering these specialized medical services, KSRelief is not only improving the quality of life for Syrians affected by conflict but also contributing to the long-term rehabilitation and recovery of communities that have endured immense hardship.
Through its humanitarian initiatives, KSRelief continues to reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing assistance to those in need across the globe. The success of this cochlear implantation program underscores the Kingdom’s dedication to supporting vulnerable populations and making a tangible difference in the lives of those who are most affected by crisis.
