The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), in partnership with the Al-Awn Foundation for Development, has launched a project in the governorate of Aden to improve access to quality education in rural Yemen.
The project seeks to grant 150 female beneficiaries teaching certificates in five remote areas spanning four governorates in Yemen.
The initiative is to enhance the percentage of school enrollment of girls in rural areas and lower female illiteracy, besides bettering the percentage of female teachers trained and working in public schools.

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) and the Al-Awn Foundation for Development on Tuesday launched a rural education project in Aden to enable 150 women in five remote areas spread over four governorates in Yemen to earn teaching certificates.
The program is intended to raise school enrollment of girls in rural areas and reduce the percentage of female illiteracy, besides enhancing the percentage of female teachers trained and working in public schools. It will also help solve the problem of female dropout from general education in rural areas by increasing the number of female trainees and the percentage of female teachers working in public schools, besides enhancing the percentage of females' participation in general education in targeted areas.
Al-Awn Foundation for Development is a nonprofit organization. It aims to achieve sustainable development in rural areas and develop strategies for women to obtain higher education and post-secondary certificates in addition to life skills. This effort represents the beginning of a relationship between SDRPY and the Al-Awn Foundation for Development. The SDRPY has implemented over two hundred and twenty-nine development projects and initiatives. The SDRPY has executed these projects and initiatives to assist the Yemeni people in eight essential areas: education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, Yemeni government capability building and support, and developmental programs.
