Aden, December 31, 2024 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has officially launched its 2025 Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Program in Yemen, marking a significant step in enhancing healthcare services for individuals with mobility impairments. The program, which is being implemented in collaboration with the International Wars and Disaster's Victims' Protection Association (IRVD), aims to provide much-needed support to amputees and those suffering from mobility disabilities across the war-torn country.

The program will be carried out at four specialized centers in key regions of Yemen, including the governorates of Aden, Marib, Taiz, and Hadhramaut. These centers, dedicated to humanitarian interventions for individuals with physical impairments, will offer free, specialized healthcare services throughout 2025. The services provided will be crucial for people who have been affected by the ongoing conflict, which has left many with severe injuries and permanent disabilities.

Among the comprehensive services offered, the program includes the production and fitting of prosthetic limbs, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and specialized treatment for both congenital and acquired disabilities. The goal is to alleviate both the psychological and physical challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, enabling them to regain a sense of dignity and independence. The program also seeks to improve the overall quality of life for these individuals, providing them with the tools they need to reintegrate into society and live more fulfilling lives.

In addition to direct healthcare interventions, the program also focuses on capacity-building within Yemen’s healthcare sector. By facilitating the training of specialized technical staff in prosthetics and orthotics, KSrelief aims to enhance local expertise, ensuring that high-quality services continue to be available long after the program’s conclusion. This initiative not only addresses immediate humanitarian needs but also contributes to the long-term development of healthcare services for disabled individuals in Yemen.

The launch of the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Program is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to providing humanitarian aid and support to the Yemeni people. Through its various initiatives, KSrelief has been instrumental in improving medical services in Yemen, particularly for those affected by the conflict. The Kingdom’s humanitarian efforts continue to make a positive impact, helping to rebuild lives and offering hope to the most vulnerable members of Yemeni society.

This program represents a critical effort to provide long-term rehabilitation and care for individuals with disabilities, while also enhancing Yemen’s capacity to manage and address the needs of those who have suffered physical and psychological trauma. Through initiatives like these, Saudi Arabia remains steadfast in its support for Yemen’s recovery and its efforts to improve the well-being of the Yemeni people in the face of ongoing adversity.
