Taiz, January 12, 2025 – In a significant stride towards improving healthcare services and enhancing the quality of life for those affected by conflict, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has provided critical support to the Project for Operating Artificial Limbs and the Rehabilitation Center in Taiz Governorate, Yemen. This initiative, which began in December 2024, has successfully delivered medical services to 434 beneficiaries who have suffered limb loss due to the ongoing conflict.

Throughout December, the project facilitated 1,613 services, catering to a diverse group of individuals, including both men and women. Notably, 59% of the beneficiaries were male, while 41% were female, reflecting the broad reach of this initiative across different demographics. Among the recipients, 12% were displaced individuals, highlighting the pressing needs of those forced to flee their homes, while 88% were local residents, further underscoring the project’s role in supporting the broader community of Taiz.

Additionally, beneficiaries received physical therapy and specialized consultations aimed at optimizing their rehabilitation and improving their mobility and overall quality of life. These interventions are crucial in helping individuals regain their independence and dignity, enabling them to reintegrate into daily life despite the challenges they face.

This initiative is a part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, channeled through KSrelief, to bolster the healthcare sector in Yemen, particularly for those affected by the devastating consequences of war. Through projects like this, KSrelief aims not only to provide immediate relief but also to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, ensuring long-term support for individuals in need.

The support provided by KSrelief through this artificial limb and rehabilitation project in Taiz is a testament to the Kingdom’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people and addressing their critical healthcare needs. This project highlights the importance of healthcare interventions in conflict zones, where the provision of medical care, rehabilitation services, and prosthetics plays a pivotal role in restoring dignity and improving the lives of those affected by war.
