Addis Ababa, March 14, 2025 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) launched its annual "Etaam" Ramadan Food Basket Project in Ethiopia on Wednesday, marking an important milestone in Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian relief during the holy month of Ramadan. This year’s initiative, which is aimed at alleviating food insecurity in vulnerable communities across the country, will distribute a total of 9,644 food baskets to those in need.
The project is set to directly benefit 57,864 individuals residing in various governorates of Ethiopia, providing them with essential food items that are crucial for their well-being during Ramadan. The "Etaam" Ramadan Food Basket contains a variety of staple food products, including rice, flour, sugar, oil, and other nutritional essentials, ensuring that recipients are equipped with the resources to observe the fast and meet their dietary needs throughout the month.
The launch of this project underscores the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and reflects KSrelief’s continued focus on improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations around the globe. As part of its broader humanitarian mandate, KSrelief seeks to provide food aid to those who are most affected by poverty, conflict, and displacement, especially during significant periods such as Ramadan, a time when charity and compassion are particularly emphasized.
This initiative is part of a larger strategy by Saudi Arabia to support people in need across the world, with KSrelief playing a central role in coordinating and implementing numerous aid projects globally. Through efforts like "Etaam," KSrelief aims to make a tangible impact on the lives of people who face hardship, helping them to navigate the challenges posed by difficult economic and social conditions.
The "Etaam" Ramadan Food Basket Project not only addresses immediate food security needs but also promotes the values of solidarity and community welfare, fostering stronger international ties and showcasing the importance of collaborative humanitarian efforts in times of need.
As the project rolls out across Ethiopia, KSrelief remains steadfast in its mission to deliver aid to the most vulnerable populations worldwide, particularly during Ramadan, reinforcing its position as a key player in the global humanitarian landscape.
