Riyadh, February 03, 2025 – The National Center for Security Operations (NCSO) successfully managed a total of 2,606,704 emergency calls across three key regions in Saudi Arabia—Riyadh, Makkah, and the Eastern Region—through the Unified Emergency Number 911 in January 2025. This figure underscores the critical role the NCSO plays in ensuring public safety and providing timely responses to emergencies throughout the Kingdom.
The NCSO’s 911 Security Operations Centers are at the forefront of handling emergency situations, equipped with advanced automated systems that swiftly direct calls to the appropriate security and service agencies. These centers are designed to operate around the clock, ensuring that emergency calls are answered quickly and accurately, regardless of the time of day or night. The NCSO’s multilingual workforce is specially trained to handle a wide range of emergency scenarios, delivering effective and professional service to individuals in distress.
The breakdown of calls by region reveals the significant volume of emergency calls handled by each center. The Riyadh Region accounted for the largest share, receiving 1,238,275 calls, while the Makkah Region handled 845,940 calls, and the Eastern Region received 522,489 calls. These numbers highlight the immense responsibility placed on the NCSO to maintain smooth and efficient operations across the Kingdom, particularly in high-population areas such as Riyadh and Makkah, which experience a higher volume of emergency incidents.
The NCSO’s role in managing these millions of calls each month is vital to the Kingdom’s overall emergency response system. The center’s ability to quickly assess and direct calls to the appropriate agencies—whether it be police, medical, fire, or other essential services—ensures swift response times, ultimately saving lives and minimizing damage in times of crisis.
As part of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to advancing its emergency services and ensuring public safety, the NCSO continues to invest in technology, training, and infrastructure to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations. The 911 Security Operations Centers remain a critical component of the Kingdom’s emergency response framework, playing an essential role in the safety and well-being of the Saudi population.
Through ongoing improvements in automation and human resource management, the NCSO is enhancing its capability to manage emergency situations more effectively, contributing to the Kingdom’s broader goals of modernizing and strengthening public safety infrastructure in alignment with Vision 2030.
