Nouakchott, March 7, 2025 – In a significant step toward alleviating hunger and supporting vulnerable communities, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has distributed 835 food baskets in the Teyarett region of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. This distribution has directly benefited 5,010 individuals, providing essential sustenance during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative is part of the Etaam Ramadan Food Basket Project, which seeks to address food insecurity in Mauritania and beyond, as part of the broader humanitarian efforts of KSrelief.

The Etaam project, now in its fourth phase, is an extensive humanitarian endeavor aimed at providing food aid to those in need during Ramadan, a time when communities around the world come together to reflect, fast, and support one another. This year, the project is set to distribute an ambitious total of 390,109 food baskets across 27 countries, reaching an estimated 2,304,104 individuals. The total cost of the initiative is expected to exceed SAR 67.064 million, highlighting the scale and impact of the program.

As one of the cornerstone initiatives under Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, the Etaam project underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to providing timely and impactful aid to communities affected by food insecurity, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan. Through KSrelief, these initiatives continue to play a vital role in addressing the immediate needs of the most vulnerable populations, ensuring they have access to essential food supplies to support them throughout the month of fasting.

KSrelief’s efforts go beyond just meeting immediate needs; they aim to bring lasting positive change to communities by offering support in times of crisis and helping to alleviate the hardships faced by many across the globe. The distribution of food baskets in Mauritania is just one example of Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian work, reinforcing its leadership in global relief efforts.
