On January 7, 2025, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) officially concluded the Saudi Voluntary Eye Program, “Noor Saudi,” in Rajshahi, Bangladesh. The initiative, which took place from December 19 to 26, 2024, was a resounding success, reflecting the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts and the well-being of those in need. The program was carried out with the participation of four dedicated volunteers, whose collective efforts were pivotal in delivering essential eye care services to the local population.
Throughout the duration of the campaign, a total of 4,253 patients were examined, underscoring the program’s broad reach and its significance to the community. In addition, 1,615 pairs of eyeglasses were distributed to individuals in need, improving their quality of life and enabling better vision for daily activities. One of the most impactful aspects of the initiative was the successful performance of 503 specialized eye surgeries, which restored sight and provided critical care for individuals suffering from various eye conditions.
The “Noor Saudi” program is part of KSrelief’s broader mission to provide voluntary medical assistance through international collaborations. The program exemplifies the importance of humanitarian practices that promote values of giving, solidarity, and community support. By providing vital eye care services, KSrelief has not only helped individuals regain their vision but also demonstrated the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing global healthcare access, particularly in underserved regions.
