Pretoria, South Africa, March 20, 2025 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has successfully distributed 400 food baskets in the Republic of South Africa as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts. This initiative, which forms a critical component of the "Etaam" Ramadan Food Basket Project for 1446 AH, benefited 2,400 individuals from 400 families across the country. The distribution marks the fourth phase of the project, which is designed to support vulnerable communities during the holy month of Ramadan.
The "Etaam" project, a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s global humanitarian and relief programs, aims to provide much-needed food assistance to families in dire need. This year, the initiative is set to distribute a total of 390,109 food baskets across 27 countries, benefiting an estimated 2,304,104 individuals. The total cost of the project exceeds SAR 67.064 million, reflecting the Kingdom's deep commitment to alleviating the suffering of those affected by conflict, poverty, and other hardships.
KSrelief’s food assistance program is part of a broader series of relief efforts that span several regions, focusing on providing vital sustenance to people during Ramadan, a time when the need for food and support is particularly pronounced. The distribution of food baskets, which contain essential items to nourish families, is designed to ensure that the most vulnerable populations are able to observe the fasting month with dignity and in good health.
This project is a testament to Saudi Arabia’s dedication to supporting humanitarian causes worldwide, with KSrelief working tirelessly to ensure that aid reaches those who need it the most. The organization operates without discrimination, providing assistance to communities regardless of their background, nationality, or religion. Through such initiatives, Saudi Arabia aims to reinforce its role as a leading contributor to global humanitarian relief, helping to build a more resilient and compassionate world.
The successful distribution of food baskets in South Africa is just one example of the Kingdom’s broader efforts to foster international solidarity and cooperation. By focusing on alleviating human suffering and addressing the most pressing needs, KSrelief continues to play a pivotal role in the global humanitarian landscape, helping to promote peace, stability, and well-being for individuals and families in crisis.
