Karachi, 20th of May, 2024 (SPA) The Ministry of Interior's Makkah Route initiative, part of Saudi Vision 2030's Pilgrim Experience Program, codes and sorts Hajj pilgrims' luggage at international airports to ensure their successful arrival at their accommodations in Makkah and Madinah.The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah supervises a specialized team that carries out the coding process. The Makkah Route initiative hall at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi serves as the starting point for the process. We sort the luggage and add binary barcodes containing flight data and information about the pilgrims and their residences. The pilgrim's passport cover also bears the same code. Each pilgrim receives a card containing the engraved information on their luggage.When Hajj pilgrims arrive at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, buses transport them to their respective dwellings in Makkah and Madinah. Both airports are located in Saudi Arabia.The authorities in charge of the initiative's service deliver bags in accordance with the transportation and lodging arrangements that the Kingdom has made.The coding service's purpose is to ensure that each Hajj pilgrim's luggage arrives at their habitation, as well as to reduce and simplify the travel procedures that they must go through from the airports in their home country.
