Riyadh, August 26, 2024

The International Falcon Breeders Auction (IFBA) for this year concluded with great success yesterday, marking the end of an impressive 20-day event that generated over SAR10 million in sales. This year’s auction, held at the Saudi Falcons Club (SFC) headquarters in Malham, showcased a total of 866 falcons and featured participation from 56 leading falcon breeding farms spanning 19 countries. This event, now in its fourth year, has established itself as a premier platform for the sale and exchange of elite falcons.

Waleed Al Taweel, the official spokesperson for the SFC, highlighted the event's scale and significance. He noted that the auction featured hundreds of falcons displayed over 11 nights, including some of the most sought-after breeds. The participating farms offered an impressive array of elite and rare falcon breeds, including competition winners, responding to a high demand from avid falconers.

A standout moment in this year’s auction was the sale of the most expensive falcon, a male Ultra White Gyrfalcon from the American Pacific Northwest Falcons farm, which commanded a remarkable SAR400,000. This sale exemplified the competitive and fast-paced nature of the auction, which brings together falconers and breeders from around the world in a dynamic trading environment.

The SFC also observed a notable increase in the participation of local farms this year. This provided them with valuable opportunities to learn from international experts and exchange knowledge, enhancing their own practices. The auction served as a vital international platform for conducting trade transactions, adhering to protocols established by the club.

The Saudi Falcons Club emphasized that the auction aligns with its broader vision of leading the development, innovation, and care of falcons. By fostering this prestigious event, the SFC continues to preserve and promote the rich historical heritage of falconry, ensuring that this noble tradition is preserved for future generations. The success of this year’s auction reinforces the SFC's commitment to advancing falconry and its role as a global leader in the field.
