The Centre for Genomic Medicine at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC) has commenced the International Genomic Medicine Conference in Riyadh today, as announced in a press release. With the theme "Genomics Paving the Way for Personalized Medicine," the two-day event takes place at the King Salman Auditorium.
The conference aims to showcase the advanced applications of genomics in healthcare and address the challenges faced during its real-world implementation. Featuring 250 speakers from 15 countries, including experts from local and international entities, the event provides insights into innovative genomic technologies, genomics in the GCC, personalized medicine, and mRNA technology. It sheds light on the genomic initiatives undertaken by various Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
According to the press release, participants have the opportunity to explore the achievements and insights from the Saudi Genomic Program, Qatari Genomic Program, and Emirati Genomic Program. Additionally, the Genomic Medicine Center at KFSH&RC reveals the Genetic Pharmacogenomic Analysis Service at the conference. This service tailors medication based on an individual's unique genetic code (DNA), enabling the prediction of medication effectiveness. The approach emphasizes personalized and precise healthcare, commonly known as "personalized medicine," to enhance treatment effectiveness while minimizing potential side effects.
The release further highlights that the conference aligns with the current trends in specialized healthcare, as the field of genomic medicine is expected to experience significant growth in the coming years.
