Iranian President Receives Saudi Foreign Minister in Doha


Doha, October 4, 2024—The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, received Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah in Doha yesterday, marking a significant diplomatic encounter during the Third Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit. Prince Faisal conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to President Pezeshkian. In return, the Iranian president expressed his gratitude and sent his regards to the Saudi leadership, acknowledging the importance of continued dialogue between the two nations.


During their meeting, Prince Faisal and President Pezeshkian engaged in discussions on a range of regional and international issues, reflecting the ongoing efforts to improve relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Both sides recognized the significance of fostering diplomatic ties in light of the current geopolitical landscape, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue and cooperation to address shared challenges in the Middle East.


The meeting further highlights the evolving relationship between the two regional powers, following recent efforts to restore diplomatic ties and promote stability in the region. The talks are part of a broader initiative to enhance mutual understanding and reduce tensions, paving the way for greater collaboration in addressing issues of common interest.


Accompanying Prince Faisal at the meeting were Saudi Ambassador to Qatar, Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan, and the Director-General of the Office of the Foreign Minister, Abdulrahman Aldawood. The presence of these high-level officials underscores the importance of the meeting in the context of Saudi-Iranian diplomatic relations.
