Riyadh, October 14, 2024 — Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Alsheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, and General Supervisor of Local and International Quran Competitions, recently underscored the significance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Competition for Memorizing the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah, set to take place in West African countries. This initiative exemplifies the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to its legislative principles and its support for Muslims striving to memorize and implement these sacred texts.
In anticipation of the competition's launch, Dr. Al Alsheikh praised the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, which has paved the way for participation from 16 countries across West Africa. “This competition not only highlights our dedication to the Quran and the Sunnah but also serves as a platform for fostering unity among Muslim communities,” he remarked.
Dr. Al Alsheikh also emphasized the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, noting that Saudi Arabia has achieved remarkable advancements across various fields. He particularly highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts in promoting Islam and supporting Muslims globally, as well as its initiatives aimed at safeguarding the Quran and the Sunnah while inspiring young Muslims to cherish these invaluable teachings.
The Minister commended the robust collaboration between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance and the Ministry of National Education, Technical Training, and Reform of Mauritania in hosting this prestigious international competition. He articulated that this partnership reflects the longstanding historical ties and productive cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Mauritania in their shared mission of serving Islam and its followers. Furthermore, Dr. Al Alsheikh asserted that the competition promotes values of moderation and tolerance, deeply rooted in Islamic revelation.
