Islamic Figures in South Africa Commend Saudi Arabia's Role in Promoting Values of Tolerance, Moderation

Leaders commended the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, and its representatives in South Africa for their significant role in supporting Islamic education and outreach.
Islamic leaders in South Africa praised Saudi Arabia for its efforts in promoting moderation, tolerance, and combating extremism during Dr. Yasser Al-Dosari’s visit.

On September 15, 2024, Islamic leaders in South Africa lauded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its role in advocating moderation, tolerance, and the fight against extremism and terrorism. They highlighted how these efforts have fostered peaceful coexistence and encouraged constructive dialogue among diverse cultural and religious communities. These comments were made during the official visit of Dr. Yasser Al-Dosari, Imam and Khatib of the Grand Mosque of Makkah, to South Africa. Islamic preacher Qarn Abdi Mohammed praised the visit, noting the large turnout of over 30,000 people at Dar Al-Salam Mosque in Pretoria for Dr. Al-Dosari’s Friday sermon. He emphasized the visit’s positive impact and the deep respect Muslims hold for Saudi Arabia and its scholars. Sheikh Tahir Abdul Fattah remarked on the profound emotional effect of the visit, affirming the revered status of the holy lands among Muslims globally. Sheikh Yusuf Muhammad Hussein expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its significant contributions to Islam worldwide, praising the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, and its religious attaché at the Saudi Embassy in South Africa for their efforts in promoting Islamic values and education.
