Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi condemned the recent Israeli military assault on Jenin and its camp, which resulted in Palestinian casualties, blaming Israeli occupation forces and settlers for escalating violence in the West Bank.

On January 26, 2025, Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi issued a strong condemnation of the escalating violence and violations committed by Israeli occupation forces and settlers against Palestinian cities and villages in the West Bank. His statement highlighted the recent brutal military assault on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of numerous Palestinians. Al Yamahi described the attack as part of an ongoing pattern of violent and inhumane actions targeting Palestinian civilians, further exacerbating the already dire humanitarian crisis in the region.

Al Yamahi unequivocally placed the blame for this escalation on the Israeli occupation authorities, condemning their role in inciting violence and destabilizing the region. He emphasized that the Israeli actions not only jeopardize the security of the Palestinian people but also undermine efforts to achieve peace, contributing to the prolongation of the ongoing war. He drew a direct parallel between the military assault on Jenin and the genocidal war waged in Gaza, underscoring the continuity of such crimes and violations by the Israeli authorities. Al Yamahi characterized the situation in Jenin as a glaring violation of international law, particularly international humanitarian law and the resolutions of international legitimacy.

In his statement, Al Yamahi called on the international community, the United Nations Security Council, and the United States to take immediate and decisive action to halt the Israeli escalation. He urged them to hold the Israeli government and its settlers accountable for their crimes and violations against the Palestinian people. He also appealed to global powers to step up their efforts to protect Palestinian civilians and ensure that Israel ceases its illegal colonial activities, including the continued expansion of settlements and the violence perpetrated by settlers against the local population.

Furthermore, Al Yamahi called for the resumption of meaningful negotiations aimed at securing a just and lasting peace, which he stressed should ultimately lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. His statement serves as a reminder of the urgent need for the international community to intervene and take proactive measures to end the cycle of violence and occupation, and to work towards a fair resolution that upholds the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people.
