Beirut, November 25, 2024 – The death toll from the ongoing Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon has tragically reached 3,754, with 15,626 individuals reported injured, according to the latest update from the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health's Public Health Emergency Operation Center (PHEOC). In a statement released earlier today, the PHEOC confirmed that the most recent wave of airstrikes has resulted in 84 new fatalities and left at least 213 individuals wounded, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the country.
The report also highlighted the significant destruction caused by an Israeli airstrike on the Basta Al Fawqa area in Beirut last week, which led to 29 deaths and 67 injuries. The Lebanese authorities continue to conduct operations to clear the debris, as rescue and recovery efforts remain ongoing in the affected areas.
In addition to the devastating human toll, Israeli airstrikes have caused widespread damage in various regions of Lebanon. The National News Agency (NNA) reported that the town of Yatar in the Bint Jbeil District, located in southern Lebanon, was heavily targeted. The airstrikes extended to the towns of Kfardounine and Hanin, both in the same district, while artillery shelling also hit several towns, including Yatar, Rachaf, Ainata, and Kunin. The attacks have left significant material damage in their wake, further straining Lebanon's already fragile infrastructure.
As the death toll rises and the scale of the damage becomes clearer, the situation in Lebanon remains dire, with both medical and humanitarian organizations working under extreme pressure to provide care and support to the growing number of casualties. The ongoing airstrikes have caused widespread destruction across Lebanon, intensifying the challenges faced by the Lebanese people and exacerbating the already complex political and humanitarian crisis in the region.
The Lebanese government, alongside international organizations, continues to call for urgent humanitarian aid, as well as a ceasefire, to address the escalating crisis and provide relief to the affected populations. The international community’s response remains crucial as Lebanon navigates this devastating conflict.
