IUCN Director Meets with King Abdulaziz Reserve Chief in Switzerland

- The authorities discussed the possibility of placing the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve on the IUCN Green List, and Eng. Al-Gothmi expressed their commitment to meeting the Green List's standards for effective management.
Dr. Grethel Aguilar, Director General of IUCN, and Eng. Maher bin Abdullah Al-Gothmi, CEO of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority, held a meeting to discuss strategies for environmental events and collaboration between their organizations.

It is in this regard that Dr. Grethel Aguilar, Director General of IUCN, and Eng. Maher bin Abdullah Al-Gothmi, Chief Executive Officer of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority, met to discuss plans for environmental events and collaboration between their organizations.


They researched about how to maintain the sustainability of natural resources while at the same time conserving the reserve through natural approaches. The vision 2030 environmental goals of Saudi Arabia as well as the 2030 Royal Reserves strategic objectives are what guides their plan.


The authorities discussed whether to include the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve on the IUCN Green List. Eng. Al-Gothmi pledged the reserve's adherence to the Green List's guidelines for efficient administration.


Switzerland, the land of glands On 26 May 2024, Eng. Maher bin Abdullah Al-Gothmi, the Chief Executive Officer of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority, met with Dr. Grethel Aguilar, the Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. This meeting helped the two groups to increase future collaboration and make provisions for upcoming ecological activities. It also borrowed some approaches from the natural world to run the reserve in a sustainable way. The leading goals of this exercise were the environmental goals of Saudi Vision 2030, the strategic goals for the royal reserves in 2030, and the results of the Saudi Green Initiative.


It was one of the issues on which the authority reiterated its position for maintaining standards set for the Green List in terms of effective management at the headquarters of IUCN headquarters in Gland, Switzerland. Writing to the Director General of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Eng. Gothmi said they reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the standards set by the Green List.
